Like a pig in mud! Detoxing in the Dead Sea

I had to see for myself whether you truly do float in the Dead Sea.

The Dead Sea is the lowest point on Earth and although quite barron and receding, the sea is rich with salts and minerals, so much so that the density of them in the water means you actually bob up and down and 'float'.

Off I went to grab a beer from the aptly named 'Lowest bar in the world' before I headed down to the waters edge. I got in from the Israeli side, across the water the other side is Jordan with the Jordanian mountains towering over you. The bottom of the sea is full of mud and it's tradition to cover yourself head to toe in these minerals, with a view to hoping to look ten years younger! After all, there are many beauty products on the market that take their ingredients from the Dead Sea!

After slipping and sliding everywhere, I lay back, and......it's true! You actually do float! I scooped a load of mud up and covered myself. Due to the heat, you can't leave it on too long or you'll end up like a crusty mess. Think of a face mask that you leave on too long, well, it's like that but you'll whole body!

After an hour or so lounging in the sea, I got showered and changed, my skin feeling silky smooth. Why can't everyday be like this?
