I was on a cruise when visiting Venice and annoyingly they have stopped the ships from docking there, so we docked in the coastal town of Trieste, some 2 hours away on the Adriatic coast side.
Once in Venice, we got the water taxi 20 mins to near St Marks Square. Thankfully I had pre-ordered all the tickets for the main attractions, as the queues were long! The skip the line tickets for the Campanile, St Marks Basilica and the Doge's Palace were so worth it. The views up the bell tower were amazing alone!
